BERLIN - SEOUL AN ABSTRACT COMPARISON

TUE 25 FEB TO WED 5 MAR

a contemporary photo art exhibition will be held in Seoul with support of LUFTHANSA GERMAN AIRLINE, AUDI KOREA and PLATOON KUNSTHALLE and with help of Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, German Embassy and Goethe-Institute Seoul.

have you ever imagined simple windows on a wall or a deserted apartment in the city being so poetic? house-buildings interacts with bizarre architectonic forms, grey concrete with screaming colors, tristesse of a Berlin socialist condo with unexpected beauty of a supermarket entrance in Seoul.

Berlin based photographer Martin Leuze's frontal and often fragmentary facade elements are condensed to ambiguous visual composition, changing between strong geometry and narrative surreal documentary.

Leuze's narrative quality of his pictures is one of many features his photos own - they throw questions to audience to continue the story in their heads, inventing protagonists in between deserted buildings and asking who might live behind those facades and why.

the exhibition will show pictures from Berlin and Seoul in pairs. the artistic point in finding extraordinary in the ordinary will challenge us to sharpen our eyes for the visual beauty which is beyond our everyday structure around us. Artistic reduction of these two totally different cities will negate their geographic and cultural differences.

opening party starts on Feburary 25th 8pm at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE. Exhibition opens from Feburary 25th to March 3th, from Monday to Saturday at 6pm to 1am.
