DIY FESTIVAL COMING TO PLATOON KUNSTHALLE
REMAKE festival from Serbia, Belgrade teamed up with PLATOON KUNSTHALLE for the four days long event to explore every line about DIY culture!
from the 11th to the 15th of september 2013, artists, designers, makers and authors will present lectures, workshops, debates, installations, exhibitions, performances and urban interventions enlightening the concept of recycling and upcycling at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE and the surrounding area.
this unique collaboration among the emergent networks of european artists and designers is open to everyone who's keen to get involved with the DIY movement and get their hands dirty.
the centre point is experimentation and creative invention: ideas and concepts about how to reuse objects are going to be stretched and pushed, stripped and ripped; to give them birth in a new shape, under a new light with a new meaning. knowledge and cultural exchange will lead the transformation encouraging sustainable & ecological thinking into everyday life.
REMAKE intends to motivate its participants to continue learning and take on an active role in their societies. the ideas behind the project are the democratization of design, engagement of the general public in the creative processes, challenging the consumer society values, as well as experimenting with the possibilities of using reclaimed materials.
the program is divided into three categories: reset, rethink and recreate.
RESET - we will investigate contemporary thinking on topics such as open ecology, sustainability, holistic lifestyle, urban farming and visions of possible futures.
RETHINK - we will question and explore new emerging subcultures, reconsider visions and concepts of open source culture, hacktivism, upcycling, open design, the social economy and DIY culture in its wider sense, applying it to art, design, film, music, performing arts, architecture and crafts.
RECREATE - we will organize workshops to experience the processes of upcycling, and involve participants to collaborate in the creation of DIY furniture, products and urban interventions.
join us for REMAKE, a place and time where to soften boundaries, where to reshape questions, where to meet and re-set, re-think and re-create!
