about the film

from EBM through Acid House and New Beat onto the later Techno scene - Belgium produced some of the hallmarks of electronic music throughout the 80s and early 90s. a chronicle of this unique momentum, TSOB is in search of a nation’s spirit and the people that danced to it.

a decade before Berlin awakened to dance music analog to celebrating its reunion, Belgium pioneered an immensely popular sound (“New Beat”) and a club culture, by surprise. its unexpected but short lived success did not only leave a mark on a new generation of musicians in Belgium in the years to come; It’s eclectic mix of sounds and styles had its precursors in earlier decades. TSOB sets out to retell this story through the protagonists of the time.
