a brand new story, brought to life through animation and live music.

the team at HARD HOB are delighted to announce a screening of Part 1 of the cinematic live show, “The Quest for a Real Hard Hob” at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE Berlin.

"The Quest for a Real Hard Hob" is a feature length animated silent movie, to which the soundtrack will be performed live onstage by a four-piece band. the whole project is being independently produced, with additional help from a pair of crowdfunding campaigns.

The Hard Hob is a creative collective from Ireland with a shared vision: to create a meaningful and memorable audio-visual live production. this project is set to explore new areas of musical and visual entertainment, and to produce a show that engages the audience in sound, story and emotion.

The Hard Hob team consists of four professional musicians/producers, two animators, (one of whom is an Artist/Film Director and IFTA nominated editor), an experienced visual and lighting director and an astute and creative project manager.

the story is set in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic Berlin, where robots are all that remain. the music is best described as electronic post rock, lending a dark and atmospheric feel to proceedings. the full 90 minute show is planned for performance early in 2014, with a tour to follow later in the year.

production on the visuals is almost complete. a successful crowdfunding campaign on got the ball rolling last year, so a new campaign has been launched, this time on indiegogo. the goal, just short of €10k, would allow them to hire a team of compositors to get them over the line in time for the planned launch in early 2014.

more info is available on the campaign page here, including the pitch video. a review of the very first test screening from last summer is here, and you can hear some music, and find any further info at the official website here. it will be possible to make donations to the campaign on the night here at PLATOON KUSNTHALLE Berlin.

"this is the most exciting thing I've ever done, to have a dream I had come to life. to bring the actual vision of it as a show to reality, on stage and on screen, is overwhelming. it's the culmination of a year's work by the whole team. Deco 4 is at the beginning of a life-changing journey. I believe that's true for all of us involved in the Hob." says writer and director Andrew Millington.
