riu daeyoung moves between oriental image source material and digital and analog working procedures. his is full of passion to reach the level of the gods. his works cover animation, painting and visual performances.
"what i want you to know about riu daeyoung's works is that it doesn't have a religious meaning. it is about reinterpreting elements of characters we find in religion. the first dharma (in the piece 'dharma' is the first animation work i produced with this intention. with the second piece 'ryu' i tried to express a philosophy similar to transmigration, in which the clouds and water and time permanently circulate. the wallpainting series 'he likes...' is another attempt of working with dharma. the dharma on the first wall painting loves dance music by justice and plays it on infinite repeat mode on his ipod. the dj dharma depicts the artist's self."
