'my works are tatoo art...'
my work is engraving beliefs. through my work i talk about how we begin to believe firmly in something when we make a pledge. the first motives that come to our minds when we think about tatoos are ‘il shim’ (‘one heart), ‘chakhagae salja’ (living a pure life) ‘love’ or ‘eui ri’ (the principles of righteousness). these could have never been engraved without a strong personal belief. for me these tatoos, in which something funny or dark-sided shines through, are a the expression of a culture that is worth of being documented. with my beliefs and thoughts flowing into my tatoo works i document in which ways tatoos can be understood in relation to society. and thus engrave things."
